Isle of Sheppey Murder Trial Concludes

February 18, 2026

The trial of three youth defendants charged with the murder of a 49 year old man in Leysdown on the Isle of Sheppey in August 2025 has concluded.

Danny Moore KC, leading Kieran Brand, acted for the first defendant, who was found not-guilty of murder by the jury, and had pleaded guilty to manslaughter before the trial commenced. The remaining two defendants were convicted of manslaughter by the jury.

Craig Evans, led by Kate Blumgart KC (2 Harcourt Buildings) acted for the prosecution, instructed by Natalie Smith of the Crown Prosecution Service.

The prosecution case was that the defendants lured the victim, who they believed to be a paedophile, to a beach where he was then struck with a bottle, chased and had rocks thrown at him. He collapsed and died at the scene.

The defendants will be sentenced in April.
