Landlord and Tenant

Landlord and tenant law is an area in which all members of the team acquire experience at an early stage of their careers, and chambers is able to assist clients in relation to all issues that arise in connection with residential and commercial leases, licences, rights of acquisition of property and extension of leases. As well as providing representation in possession cases, whether involving former tenants or squatters, members of chambers are able to assist in advising in relation to non-contentious work such as the negotiation of arrangements touching on the occupation of land. This includes work done for management companies in respect of service charges and obligations to repair, and representation before the civil courts and at the First Tier Tribunal (Property Chamber). Members also regularly advise in respect of matters arising out of the public law aspect of landlord’s obligations, including licensing, criminal sanctions and rent payment applications.
