Covid murder trial underway – Oliver Saxby QC and Danny Moore defending

The trial of a 17-year old charged with murder is underway at Maidstone Crown Court. The trial is the first to take place in Kent following the resumption and one of the first in the country. It is being managed under strict Covid-rules, with two courtrooms being used. The victim was stabbed to death in broad daylight in a residential road in Gillingham. The attack was captured on CCTV. The defendant denies that he was the killer. The case revolves around the footage itself and other circumstantial evidence. The trial is expected to last into next week.
