Rochester Bridge murder trial – Oliver Saxby QC defending

April 1, 2019

The trial of Levi Webb is entering its closing stages. Mr Webb is charged with the murder of Peter Beale, who was found stabbed to death under Rochester Bridge, Kent in September of last year. Webb and his co-defendant, Billy Dole, were dealing drugs – Webb as Dole’s runner. On the evening of 17th September, Beale decided to ‘rob a drug dealer’ – getting a friend to arrange a meeting with Webb on the pretext of buying drugs. They met; and Beale proceeded to rob Webb at knife-point. Webb then called Dole, who attended the alleyway by Rochester bridge where Beale and his friend were taking the drugs that had been stolen. 3 minutes or so later, they left the alleyway – with Beale dead from a series of stab wounds. Dole has pleaded guilty to murder; and the question for the jury is whether Webb was party to his attack. Oliver Saxby QC is leading Kate Hunter, instructed by Gurney Harden Solicitors.
