Richard Barraclough QC and John FitzGerald start murder trial
December 5, 2017
Richard Barraclough QC and John Fitzgerald are representing one of three men accused of beating a homeless Romanian man to death in a nature reserve on the outskirts of Maidstone in May 2016. His body was found by dog walkers the following morning but there were no witnesses as to what happened.
The Crown’s case rests on analysis of CCTV footage, unguarded comments to friends and partners, forensic analysis and the fact that the defendants went into hiding in the days following the death. One defendant has been found ‘unfit to plead’ and the other two defences are ‘cut throat’.
The trial is taking place at Maidstone Crown Court and Richard Barraclough QC and John Fitzgerald are instructed by Takk & Co. Solicitors.
