Ethan Dighton secures conviction in conspiracy to steal high value cars

December 5, 2025

The Defendant, GV, was accused of conspiring with others to steal over a dozen high-end Mercedes and BMW vehicles from across Kent during a several month period in 2023. The cumulative value of the vehicles stolen amassed at least £635,000.

With care and precision, Ethan presented to the jury a vast amount of CCTV and cell-site data which showed that a phone seized from GV was present at many of the thefts and that a “Relay Device” seized from GV’s backpack had been used to “trick” these vehicles into unlocking and starting in the middle of the night, while the owners were asleep and while their car keys were still in their homes.

The Defendant denied involvement in this conspiracy, saying that he had been given the phone just hours before his arrest and that he had been hired as a “delivery driver”. Ethan’s meticulous approach to the evidence, setting out the indisputable links between this Defendant and these thefts, led the jury to convict GV unanimously.

Having been convicted by the jury, GV was sentenced immediately to four years’ imprisonment.
