Disabled pensioner murdered and set on fire – Oliver Saxby QC and Nina Ellin prosecuting

The trial of Michael Bryant started last week at Maidstone Crown Court. Bryant is charged with murder and arson. The Crown allege that he brutally murdered his neighbour, a 68-year old amputee, by bludgeoning him to death with a hammer and cleaver before then setting his body alight. Bryant denies any involvement in the attack. The Crown’s case includes detailed expert evidence covering DNA, blood spatter, fingermarks and footmarks. The trial is expected to last 4 weeks.
