June 29, 2018
In a verdict given today, the defendant was unanimously acquitted following a 5 day trial at Woolwich Crown Court of offences of Attempting to Cause Grievous Bodily Harm, Threats to Kill and two counts of Threatening to Damage Property (by fire).
The allegation was that the defendant had sprayed his partner with WD-40 and then attempted to set her alight using a lighter. The defendant accepted spraying the WD-40 at her, but said that he was attempting to damage her clothing and at no stage attempted to set her alight. The defendant denied making any threats.
Craig Evans represented the defendant and was instructed by Vyman solicitors.
