No case to answer in murder trial defended by Danny Moore KC and Emin Kandola
February 26, 2026

On the first day of trial at Maidstone Crown Court listed to begin on 24 February 2026, the prosecution accepted that there was no case to answer on charges of murder or manslaughter against Danny Moore KC and Emin Kandola’s client, JH.
JH had been charged alongside two co-defendants following the death of a 22-year-old male on 2 August 2025.
The prosecution alleged that the deceased had travelled to Sittingbourne town centre, where he became involved in a dispute arising out of a drug transaction after JH introduced the deceased to others connected with the supply of drugs.
It was alleged that during the confrontation a weapon was produced, causing the deceased to flee the scene. He subsequently fell from an embankment onto a nearby roadway and suffered fatal injuries after being struck by a vehicle. The prosecution case was that those involved intended to cause at least serious harm and were therefore criminally responsible for the death.
The defence maintained that the defendant’s involvement was limited to arranging an initial meeting and that he bore no criminal responsibility for the events that followed.
In light of this, the prosecution conceded that there was no case to answer. Not guilty verdicts were entered on both counts in respect of the defendant and one co-accused. Another defendant had previously pleaded guilty to manslaughter.
