Court of Appeal hears food safety appeal

May 26, 2017

Stephen Hockman QC, and David Hercock appeared in the Court of Appeal last week in judicial review proceedings on behalf of a trade association and slaughterhouse operator seeking to establish that there is a legal right for a slaughterhouse operator to be able to challenge the decision of the FSA to declare meat unfit for human consumption via the provisions in food safety legislation.

The case is R (on the application of the Association of Independent Meat Suppliers and Cleveland Meat Company Limited) v Food Standards Agency.

Judgment is awaited.
