Roy Martin QC
August 30, 2019
It is with great sadness that Six Pump Court announces the passing of Roy Martin QC. Roy was one of the few Counsel to attain the distinction of Queen’s Counsel in both Scotland and England & Wales. He was 69.
Roy was a solicitor for three years before being admitted to the Faculty in 1976, taking silk in 1988. He was called to the English Bar in 1990, becoming a ‘double Silk’ in 2008. He was also a member of the Bar of Northern Ireland and the Bar of New South Wales. He held the post of Dean of the Faculty of Advocates from 2004-2007.
Roy joined Six Pump Court in 2012. He also practised in Scotland as a member of Terra Firma Chambers in Edinburgh.
He will be greatly missed by his colleagues here in Chambers and by his many friends and acquaintances, professional and personal, both in the UK and around the world. We extend our most profound sympathy to his family whose loss is the greatest of all.
A memorial service for Roy will be held at Loretto School near Edinburgh at 2 pm on Monday 28th October.
