Oliver Saxby QC opens for the Crown in eleven-handed Old Bailey Sex Exploitation Case
May 18, 2015
The ‘Operation Articulate’ trial, Vikram Singh and others, gets under way today at the Central Criminal Court. Eleven defendants face 49 sex exploitation charges relating to two vulnerable complainants, now aged 21 but aged between 12 and 15 at the time of their abuse. Their evidence is to be called ‘live’ with the assistance of intermediaries. Their many police interviews have been refined down into ‘Examination-in-Chief’ plans served on all parties. The case centres on the activities of a group of men, many of them taxi drivers, in Aylesbury.
The trial is expected to last 8 weeks.
Oliver Saxby QC is leading a team including Alan Blake (CPS HCA) and Patrick Duffy (23 Essex Street).
