May 13, 2016

Yesterday Mukhtiar Singh spoke at the Regulation of Investigatory Powers Act 2000 Conference 2016. His talk on the Protection of Freedoms Act 2012 and RIPA covered the impact of judicial oversight to the application process and provided “excellent” practical guidance on approval applications under Protection of Freedoms Act 2012.

The event, organised by Covert Policing Training, was directed at local authorities who undertake covert investigations, including licensing; trading standards; environmental law; social benefit; and housing fraud investigations and delegates included those from local authorities, CPS and Police Forces.

In addition to his regulatory practice, Mukhtiar also advises on breach of privacy actions relating to private individuals and organisations who have used covert techniques in anticipation of, or during, litigation.
