Megan Thomas KC speaks for BBC 4’s ‘Today in Parliament’

March 20, 2025

We are proud to share that Megan Thomas KC recently spoke with the BBC for “Today in Parliament” about the implications of the Planning and Infrastructure Bill.

Megan discusses the new strategic Environmental Delivery Plans which are aimed at developers foregoing a Habitats Regulations Assessment and paying into a Nature Restoration Fund. Through such measures, the backlog caused by nutrient neutrality requirements would be eased and extreme measures (such as building a 1km long bat tunnel, as occurred with HS2) should be avoided.

Megan also explains that in the case of judicial review challenges to major infrastructure projects, challengers would be limited to just an oral hearing for permission, and, where a challenge was totally without merit, there would be no recourse to the Court of Appeal to secure permission for a judicial review.

The interview will air tomorrow on Friday the 21st of March at 11:30pm, on the Today in Parliament segment, and will be re-aired on Monday the 24th at 5am as ‘Yesterday in Parliament’.
