Important appeal concerning Trading Standards authority to prosecute certain offences

On 20th July the Court of Appeal is to hear an important appeal concerning Trading Standards authority to prosecute certain offences. Richard Barraclough QC leading Joseph Millington, instructed by Birmingham City Council, have argued authority to prosecute in the case of illegal money lending and associated offences at the Snaresbrook Crown Court.

The hearing was a preparatory hearing. Judgment is to be handed down on 9th June when the Court of Appeal will be asked to consider the matter on a consolidated appeal.
