Gross negligence manslaughter prosecution – Oliver Saxby QC leading for Crown

The trial of Sarah Morris begins today at Mold Crown Court. She is charged with the manslaughter by gross negligence of one of her twins, aged 13 months at the time. The Crown allege that the defendant left her twins in a bath, unattended, for prolonged periods of time whilst she was distracted doing other things, including speaking to her partner on the phone. Oliver Saxby QC is leading James Coutts of Linenhall Chambers, Chester. They are instructed by the Complex Casework Unit, Cardiff. The trial is expected to last two weeks.
