Development of National Significance – Rush Wall Solar Farm

Dr Michael J. Bowes appears on behalf of Gwent Wildlife Trust in relation to the proposed Rush Wall Solar Farm Development of National Significance (DNS) on the Gwent Levels.

The proposal comprises a utility-scale, ground-mounted solar farm with an installed generating capacity exceeding 350MW, together with battery energy storage infrastructure, substations, cabling, access works and associated ancillary development, extending across land situated wholly within nationally designated Sites of Special Scientific Interest.

Dr Bowes is a barrister specialising in infrastructure, planning, environmental and utilities law, with particular expertise in nationally significant energy and water infrastructure projects. Over the past year he has been instructed in four Developments of National Significance and one Nationally Significant Infrastructure Project.

He regularly advises corporations, environmental organisations, statutory undertakers and infrastructure operators on the legal and policy framework governing major development, including renewable energy infrastructure, environmental protection, regulation, statutory powers, asset protection, competition and contractual disputes.
