Crown’s Case Closes in Historic Familial Sexual Abuse Prosecution

The Crown closed its case yesterday in the prosecution of four persons charged with multiple allegations of rape, sexual assault and child cruelty. Oliver Saxby QC is leading for the Crown, instructed by Thames Chiltern CCU.

The allegations cover 25 years of the most serious and depraved inter-generational abuse of 6 complainants and span a number of Family Court proceedings and criminal investigations. The volume of material is massive and the detail to be mastered substantial. The Crown’s case lasted 6 weeks and included the calling of all 6 complainants, expert evidence and other corroborative material. The jury are expected to retire some time the week after next.
