Rebecca is a dual-qualified English Barrister (called to the Bar of England & Wales in 2024) and an Advocate & Solicitor (called to the Bar of Malaysia in 1997). She is a member of the Honourable Society of Gray’s Inn, London.
Rebecca is a full-time international commercial arbitrator and counsel specialising in sanctions, international trade, commodities trading, maritime, oil and gas (EPCIC), technology, general commercial disputes and Artificial Intelligence. She is a Certified Sanctions Specialist with expertise in complex sanctions matters related to the UK, USA, EU, UN, and Singapore sanctions authorities.
Rebecca began her career as a litigation advocate in the Courts of Malaysia, before transitioning into leadership roles in legal, compliance, and sanctions functions within multinational corporations based in Singapore, primarily in the oil, commodities, maritime and technology industries. Now based in London, she possesses a deep understanding of Asia, while her Scandinavian family background further enhances her insight into the European market. A multilingual professional, she speaks several Asian languages, including Mandarin, Malay, Cantonese, and Indonesian in addition to fluent English.
Driven by her passion for law, she also lectures part-time at universities in England, teaching Company Law, Commercial Law, International Trade and Carriage of Goods by Sea, and Arbitration to law undergraduates.
International arbitration
Rebecca accepts both party and institutional appointments as an arbitrator or counsel in ad hoc and institutionally administered arbitrations. She is listed as an arbitrator by the LCIA, ICC UK, LMAA, Maxwell Chambers Directory of Singapore, the European Chinese Arbitrators Association, the SCC Arbitration Institute (Stockholm), the Danske Advokater, the Arbitral Women and the Worshipful Company of Arbitrators (London).
She is also on the panel of arbitrators for institutions such as the SIAC (Reserved Panel), AIAC, AIADR and the Vietnam Traders Arbitration Centre (VTA). She used to sit on the panel of arbitrators under the ICC National Committee in Singapore.
Rebecca is a Fellow of the Singapore Institute of Arbitrators (“SIArb”), the MIArb and AIADR. Rebecca sat in the Council of the SIArb for four consecutive years (2018-2022) and she used to serve the ICC Taskforce on “ADR & Arbitration” and “ICC Commission on Arbitration & ADR”. She had been appointed by the Benchmark Chambers International, the Base of the Supreme People’s Court of the People’s Republic of China as a legal Expert.

Rebecca’s appointments include the following:-
- Appointed by major arbitration institutions, including the LCIA and SIAC, as an arbitrator in sanctions and oil disputes
- Appointed by the Chair (Honourable Supreme Court Judge of Singapore) of the Promotion of Singapore Law Committee, Singapore Academy of Law, as Head of the International Trade Sub-committee (2021-2023) and as a Committee Member (2016-2023)
- Appointed by the Chair (Honourable Supreme Court Judge of Singapore), to the Commercial Precedent Committee of the Singapore Academy of Law as Editor Board Member (2022 till present) and Committee Member (2017-2022)
Achievement Highlight: Established, produced, and launched Project SGCOMTRADE, a set of industry-standard business contract templates for coal in the Asia Pacific region, known as the “Standard Form Caol Contracts” (SFCC).
