Nathaniel is a criminal barrister who both prosecutes and defends in the Crown Courts, Magistrates’ Courts and Youth Courts. He has experience across the full range of criminal proceedings.
Nathaniel is a confident, measured and persuasive advocate. He is particularly experienced in cases requiring careful analysis of evidential weaknesses, sensitive client handling, and focused written advocacy. His practice includes handling allegations of violence, serious driving offences, dishonesty offences, drug offences, stalking and harassment, computer misuse, and offences involving public authorities.
In the Crown Court, Nathaniel has represented defendants in complex sentencing hearings where substantial custodial terms have been sought. Nathaniel has been praised by Judges, colleagues, and clients for his fierce and persuasive courtroom advocacy.
As a prosecutor, Nathaniel has appeared in Crown Court sentencing hearings involving serious assaults, burglary, fraud, dangerous driving and breach offences. He is trusted to accept instructions at short notice and to produce clear, practical, and comprehensive written work.
Nathaniel is known for thorough preparation, sound judgment, clear advice and calm handling of vulnerable clients.
Nathaniel is able to draw on experiences from his time working in finance and aviation prior to coming to the Criminal Bar. Away from the Bar, he is passionate about conservation in Southern Africa, devoting much of his free time to anti-poaching initiatives in the region.

- R v A – successfully discontinued prosecution against young D charged with multiple driving and assault offences.

- CCBP v L – Four-year sexual risk order obtained where acting for a police force.
- DVSA v S – Prosecution of fraud by impersonation in driving theory and HGV tests. D was sentenced to immediate custody.
- R v C – Trial in which two charges were discontinued, and a bad-character application was defeated.
- R v M – Assault trial ending in acquittal after five prosecution witnesses were cross-examined.
- R v P – Multi-defendant Crown Court case in which the prosecution was persuaded to offer no evidence.
