Aquittals in Gillingham shooting case

The trial of a man accused of the attempted murder of two Kurdish men by shooting has ended. Adam Green, represented by Oliver Saxby QC, leading Simon Wickens was alleged to have shot the victims at a yard on Railway Street in Gillingham on the 13th April 2012. He was said to have ridden to the scene with an accomplice on motorbikes and shot at his victims at close range, using a sawn-off shotgun, before fleeing. The prosecution described the incident as a revenge attack following a violent confrontation at the yard the previous day.

After more than fifteen hours of deliberation the jury acquitted Adam Green of two counts of attempted murder, as well as alternative counts of section 18 and 20 wounding. His sister, Melissa Green, who was represented by Thomas Stern, was acquitted of perverting the course of justice. Steven Green, brother of the two, was found to have done an act tending to pervert the course of justice, namely, requested a former girlfriend to conceal clothing of potential evidential value to the police investigation.
