Amy Nicholson secures acquittal of client charged with rape.

After an 11-day trial at Maidstone Crown Court the Defendant JW, who was accused of raping and assaulting their former partner, was unanimously acquitted by the jury on all charges.  A particular aspect of concern in this case was the late provision of evidence and failings of the state to provide proper disclosure of unused material, in a timely fashion.   Amy’s persistence in obtaining all relevant material enabled her to demonstrate fundamental inconsistencies with the complaint and highlight documentary and mobile phone evidence which undermined the credibility of the allegations.
